WhatsApp on TWO devices - Same Account
Update 2018-07-04
|
I have decided to uninstall the Double WhatsApp Account in favour of
Cloneapp Messenger to avoid having to frequently re-pair the devices. In order to enable re-pairing I have had to reinstall or at least clear its data - it seemed
like the adds were taking over. Clone Whatsapp works in a similar way.

WhatsApp does not let you to have the same account on two devices. Having two accounts is rather confusing for your contacts, but also for yourself,
having the conversation history divided between two devices. WhatsApp offers a plugin for Windows, which allows you to mirror the WhatsApp on your mobile
device onto a PC. On GalaxyApps I have found the app "Double WhatsApp Account", which ports this plugin to Android.

If your second device is a Samsung one, you can install the app directly from GalaxyApps. My second device is a Moto G5 mobile phone though, on which I have not been able to
get to GalaxyApps. As my first device is a Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet, I installed the app on it, in order to take a backup copy of its apk (and I then uninstalled it
from the tablet). This backup apk I copied onto the cloud (Dropbox), from where it could be reached by the Moto G5 phone to install. (My tablet is WiFi only, so I had to
sideload Whatsapp, and I registered it using my Google Voice number, as described here).
The devices were then paired by scanning the QR code in a way similar to the Windows plugin, as described here.
Remember to keep the first device connected to WiFi to keep the pairing!
