Gal Costa is one of my favourite Brazilian singers. She was born in Salvador, Bahia in 1945. In 1963 she was "discovered" by Caetano Veloso and became involved with the "Bossa Nova" and the "Tropicalia" movements. She often performed together with Caetano's sister Maria Bethânia and with Gilberto Gil.
